CEO

Maldwyn Worsley-Tonks MBE

Maldwyn is red24's CEO and is a former Lieutenant Colonel in the Parachute Regiment. He has over ten years of experience in the private security industry. Prior to joining red24, he was an independent risk management consultant to a number of high-profile multinational companies involved in the pharmaceutical, tobacco and mineral extraction industries in Russia and West Africa.

Neil Thompson

Neil is red24's Operations Director and a former Detective Superintendent in the UK's National Crime Squad. Prior to joining red24, Neil was Head of Corporate Security Operations for the Orange telecommunications group. He also has over 30 years of law enforcement experience.

Head of Corporate Intelligence

Lee Niblett

Lee Niblett is responsible for the production of timely and accurate security and intelligence reports for red24's corporate clients and insurance partners. He has a First Class Degree in Geography and a Masters in Strategic Studies from the University of Aberdeen. Prior to joining red24, Lee worked as an analyst in the Terrorism and Insurgency Centre at Jane's Information Group (now IHS Jane's) where he developed a substantial knowledge of terrorist group tactics, methodologies, personalities, operational areas and target patterns. He has extensive experience in writing intelligence and security assessments for a wide variety of audiences and has contributed to several UK media outlets, including The Times, Telegraph and Independent newspapers, as well as the BBC World Service and specialist publications, such as Cargo Security International, Maritime Risk International and the International Travel and Insurance Journal, on a variety of security-related topics.

Clinton Brannigan

Clinton is a former undercover operative with the UK's National Crime Squad and he has over 30 years of experience within the UK's national law enforcement apparatus. Clinton is responsible for the swift deployment and coordination of red24's UK ActionResponse team.

Steven Thompson

Steven has over 20 years experience in the military and 11 years experience in the commercial sector. Since 2000 he has worked both as a security consultant and as a security manager, operating at a strategic level for international corporations and organisations. Prior to joining red24, Steven worked in a global telecommunications company, where he used his knowledge and expertise to facilitate the implementation of corporate security policies and procedures. While operating at this level, Steven has developed an understanding and appreciation of the complex regulatory environment in which corporate entities operate. Steven has produced and delivered several bespoke training sessions for companies and NGOs, covering crisis management and product recall scenarios. He has also reviewed security policies, product recall policies and travel procedures for numerous companies, as well as assisting our food safety experts on site visits. Over the last two years, Steven has directed over 70 security-related responses for red24.

 

UK ActionResponse team

The UK ActionResponse team is a dedicated team of experienced security professionals tasked to respond to your UK-based security crises.

These individuals are all former detectives within the UK law enforcement apparatus and have substantial experience in dealing with serious crimes. They are also experts in dealing with, and taking statements from, victims of crime and vulnerable witnesses. Their skills come from a background of investigating murder, rape, serious sexual assaults, complex fraud cases, kidnap and ransom, extortion, and product contamination. The response specialists are also adept at dealing with investigations at both national and international level and are skilled in the methods of covert policing, enabling them to carry out proactive confidential investigations of a complex nature.

The Americas

Jack Cloonan

Jack, a retired FBI special agent and former president of Clayton Consultants, is the head of red24's Special Risks team. He has substantial experience in crisis management, law enforcement and anti-terrorism. He has assisted with conducting pre-incident exercises and crisis simulation training, as well as reviewing crisis management plans. Jack was the senior case agent on the New York Office Bin Laden Squad, and participated in the investigation of and response to the bombings at KhobarTowers, the US embassies in Kenya and Tanzania, the USS Cole and New York's Twin Towers (9/11). Since entering the commercial arena, Jack has cemented his position as one of the foremost kidnap for ransom experts in the world.

 

Garry Vardon-Smith

Garry has had a long and successful career of over 26 years with the British Police Service, reaching the rank of Chief Inspector. Working at the local, regional and national level, Garry was responsible for developing national doctrine, strategic planning, direct management of UK police crisis management teams, critical incident command training and national emergency mobilisation issues. During the UK G8 Summit, Asian tsunami and London bombings, Garry was a key advisor to the UK Strategic Command at the UK Police National Coordination Centre. A graduate of the FBI National Academy, Garry was also the Hostage and Crisis Management Advisor for the British Embassy in Baghdad, Iraq, where he worked closely with many international and US agencies, as well as the US military. During the past four years, Garry has been actively consulting in high-threat environments in the Middle East and South Asia, primarily for NGOs, providing planning, intelligence and security advice, enabling such groups to operate in hostile, non-permissive environments.
